I don't know how to think about what brought joy to me as a child.

School made me hate writing so I avoided it like the plague. Now it's all I want to do but I let the rest of my life get in the way.

My anxiety about writing comes back and I drift from one distraction to another never putting effort into the thing I want to be doing.

I'll probably never fully overcome it but all I can do is recognize my faults and move forward as best I can.

Well this post is quite simply brilliant. I will revisit it often when I lose my way… thank you for writing this 🪷

Thank you Jenny. I wrote that a while ago…and kind of cringe at that now🤣

Funny isn’t it how stuff we did long ago makes us feel and yet it landed with me as fresh as a daisy - quite as if you had written in just last week 😆

"You must first live your life before you can write about it."

This line made me think about the two broad categories of artists.

There's the young buck who has success seemingly right out of the gate.

Then there's the grizzled veteran who plugs away for years until finding success in his 50s.

I used to think it was tougher to be the vet, but now I think it's harder to be the young star.

Think of Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain. When you start your career that hot, how do you top it?

For the old dude, it's just a slow and steady climb up to the top.

Unfortunately yeah. Fame is the worst thing that can happen to you if you already have issues

Yeah I tend to agree. It’s often damaging to go viral or get a lot of attention before your ready for it. That’s why so many artists or pop stars crash and burn

The curse of 27 is real!

Hendrix, Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Jean-Michel Basquiat all quit Earth far too soon.
